Where did July go??
Things have been very busy here at the fort, with our big event weekends
occurring during the high tourism month.
Here’s a list of recent reads:
July:
Deathwish (urban fantasy)
Temeraire Series (books 4-7): Empire of Ivory,
Victory of Eagles, Tongues of Serpents, and Crucible of Gold
Ents, Elves, and Eriador: The Environmental Vision of
J. R. R. Tolkien
Gifts and Consequences
Portlandtown
C. S. Lewis in a Time of War
Coveted
August:
Star Wars Allegiance
A Study in Sherlock
(modern authors go Holmes, including Neil Gaiman) This was a really fun collection to read. There were only one or two stories I wasn’t all that fond of, overall it was great. There was a combination of period and modern settings for the stories.
I’m currently reading 5 books, 2 Tolkien related (there’s a
reason for that, more info in the next post).
Jack 1939 (alternate history) JFK working as a spy
for FDR as WWII erupts across Europe
A Foreign Country (spy)
The Silmarillion
J. R. R. Tolkien: Author of the Century by Tom
Shippey
Alice
in Wonderland
